28.06.2022 / 18:00 – 22:00
With Som Supaparinya

Fellows of the Artists-in-Berlin Program and of the UdK Berlin Graduate School in exchange

Shooting Stars and Angry Gods

Doors: 18:00 / Start: 19:00

Shooting Stars and Angry Gods, which comprises an exchange of works and ideas between Som Supaparinya and Amy Lien and Enzo Camacho, is the first gathering for future dialogue that will take place between DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and UdK’s Graduate School Berlin, two organizations which host international artistic research in a transdisciplinary realm in Berlin. The conversation between Supaparinya and Lien & Camacho will trace the paths these artists take to navigate conflicting histories and histories of conflict, with emphasis on the feudal oppressions imposed by colonial and corporate imperialism within Southeast Asian geography. It will attempt to map out reciprocities, intersections and dissonances in the ways these artists handle violence and memory, representation and its limits, and opacity as an artistic and political strategy, from earlier works till today.

To kick off the series and the new collaboration, Uncommon Grounds will feature a conversation between Som Supaparinya, Amy Lien and Enzo Camacho, moderated by Merv Espina.

Som Supaparinya is fellow of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program in 2021/22.

Before and after the event, works by Shadi Habib Allah, Pallavi Paul (Nayi Kheti/New Harvest, 2013), Alicja Rogalska (Dark Fibres, 2021) are on view at the daadgalerie. Therefore, the doors already open at 18:00.
