Interspecifics (Fellows Music & Sound 2025) kicked off a new platform for experimental music from Latin America with a spectacular launch at the end of July: “This is not an academic exercise. This is not a festival. This is a listening insurgency. Forgotten Noise is a living cartography in progress. A map made of vibrations, materials, rituals, hacked machines, recycled devices, and embodied knowledge.”
In this second edition, Interspecifics gather again a constellation of artists whose practices showcase what they call auto-musicology: a self-reflective sonic method where the artist is simultaneously practitioner, theorist, and archivist. Here, sound is not simply the object of study — sound is method, archive, and resistance. Forgotten Noise is not merely a curatorial platform; it is also an act of publication-as-intervention — generating a living counter-archive of voices, tools, techniques, and political gestures.
