With Public Movement
Public Movement is a research and performance body that studies and creates public choreographies, covert rituals and forms of social order. The group explores the performance of politics and the choreography of social life. Public Movement develops research through action, bringing historical and archival materials into scores and situations. Thus, political structures are approached not only as subjects to be represented, but as systems to be entered, tested, and performed.
In her talk, artist and choreographer Dana Yahalomi will speak about Public Movement’s meticulous research into identity, nationalism, art, and performances of citizenship, and about how systems of identification are constructed and performed. Among other projects, Yahalomi will present As One: New Action for Frankfurt, developed during her 2025 DAAD fellowship to mark the 100th anniversary of the first International Workers’ Olympiad, held in Frankfurt in 1925.
The presentation will be followed by a conversation with curator Joanna Warsza, addressing the tensions of everyday life and work in Israel and Palestine, the limits of art in times of extreme violence, and the future of context-responsive artistic practice and engagement.
