Public Movement
Public Movement is a performative research body that investigates and stages political actions in public spaces. It studies and creates public choreographies, forms of social order, overt and covert rituals. The group works across artistic mediums including performance, dance, theater and visual art. For the last 20 years, Public Movement has performed in renowned art institutions worldwide including Guggenheim Museum, New York; Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv; Gwangju Biennial; Hebbel Am Ufer Theater, Berlin; Asian Art Biennial, Taipei; Australian Centre for Contemporary Art Melbourne; and steirischer herbst Festival, Graz, Berlin Biennial, Van AbbeMuseum, Eindhoven, MAXXI, Rome; Kampnagel, Hamburg; Santarcangelo festival, Santarcangelo, Novecento Museum, Florence . The group has won several awards including the Essential Art Prize (2021) and Rosenblum Prize for Performance Art (2017) and was shortlisted for Future Generation Art Prize.
Public Movement was founded in December 2006 by Dana Yahalomi and Omer Krieger.
Dana Yahalomi is the founder, and currently the sole director, and primary choreographer of Public Movement. In addition to her work with Public Movement, Dana Yahalomi has taught and given lectures at numerous prestigious institutions worldwide, including The Place in London, Brown University, Bard College , New York University, and HZT Berlin, Mainz University, Alto University among others. She has served on the advisory committee of Artport Tel Aviv and led the educational program “Reading Group” alongside Irit Rogoff and Shaul Setter during the 2022-2023 period. Dana co-wrote the book Solution 263: Double Agent with Athena Katsof, published by Sternberg Press in 2015. Dana Yahalomi graduated from SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in 2003 and holds a BA in Philosophy and History from Tel Aviv University.
Dana Yahalomi was a fellow of the DAAD Arts and Media Program in October and November 2025, funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
During August and September 2024, Dana Yahalomi and Nir Shauloff conducted a research at Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm in Frankfurt in the framework of DAAD Arts and Media Program in collaboration with Artis.
