With Rossella Biscotti

The relevance of history, as well as the question of official and alternative historiography, are recurrent themes in Rossella Biscotti’s work, which is often directed by intense research and artistic-forensic investigations. In The City, a contemporary view of historical testimonies also yields both a personal and political analysis of its own positioning in the world.
Starting with the installation The City, on view at the daadgalerie through March 13, the discussion will focus on central aspects of the work, including the simultaneity of history and the present, the montage principle as narrative element, as well as the role of science fiction on the artistic language in the installation. Also providing a focus will be the connection between these themes and the development of Biscotti’s work, which, coming from sculpture, deals with the relationship between body and space across a variety of media.

Rossella Biscotti (b. 1978, Italy) is a guest of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program. Her work has been presented in a variety of international contexts in numerous solo and group exhibitions.

Chus Martínez currently heads the Art Institute at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel. As a curator and author, she has organized numerous international exhibitions and projects.
