With Sage Ni'ja Whitson
Together with the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program, SAVVY invites you to a weekend program by current Berlin fellow Sage Ni’Ja Whitson. On Friday, Whitson premieres the performance installation of their book Transtraterrestrial: Dark Matter and Black Divinities – part performance reading, part ritual, part indoor and outdoor space activation – at SAVVY. Taking place after sunset, Whitson, as “Trans Trappist the Extraterrestrial”, leads witnesses through an unworlding that amplifies the dark through the aches of what is. Since 2017, Whitson has created a constellation of art|works, entitled The Unarrival Experiments, projects centering dark matter and dark energy through a Transembodied lens. The works connect astrophysics, Yorùbá spirituality, and other African Cosmologies, building what they’ve coined a “sacred scientific”.
