Saeid Shanbehzadeh returns to Berlin as part of his DAAD Arts and Media scholarship, where he will present a concert in cooperation with MaerzMusik Festival. After successful shows at the HKW in 2011 and the Boulez Saal in Berlin in 2018, we are happy to welcome him at daadgalerie on March 13, 2025, together with his son, Naghib Shanbehzadeh (percussion).

As a musician and dancer, Saeid Shanbehzadeh is known for his expertise in the traditional music of southern Iran, particularly from the Bushehr region. He is a master of the ney-anban (a type of bagpipe) and the ney-jofti (double reed pipe), as well as traditional percussion instruments like the dammam and zarb.

Shanbehzadeh is celebrated for his ability to blend the rich cultural heritage of southern Iranian music with contemporary sounds, creating a unique fusion that resonates with audiences worldwide. His performances often include vibrant and rhythmic melodies that reflect the multicultural influences of the Persian Gulf region, including Persian, Lor, Balutch, Arab, Jewish, African and Indian cultures.

After the concert at daadgalerie, music by Saeid Shanbehzadeh can be experienced at the opening of MaerzMusik Festival on March 21st and 22nd at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele with the music theater show MELENCOLIA and the vinyl release MELENCOLIC MEDLEY by Brigitta Muntendorf.
