Don Mee Choi (literature) and Matana Roberts (music) share an interdisciplinary approach in their artistic practices. Most notably, their multi-media and multi-layered works deal with personal memories and historical narratives. In this edition of Common Ground, Don Mee Choi and Matana Roberts will unfold a conversation alongside various work samples. While interweaving personal stories and political events, they will touch upon topics such as storytelling and folk songs, inter-generational trauma, and the ethics of narrating traumatic historical events. The audience is invited to follow them on a journey to their childhood, to different time zones, and places of conflict or war, and engage in the discussion.
