With works by Saba Innab

July 1st – August 27th, 2023
Opening: June 30th, 7:00 pm

Saba Innab is an architect, urban researcher, and artist. In her work, she deals with displacedarchitectural languages and examines the suspended states of temporality and permanence. For the newly created spatial installation in the daadgalerie, two counter-imaginaries form the basis of a conversation that unfolds in the room: the museum as a potential site of loss and the land as a formation of incessant inscriptions.

In this exhibition, Innab’s preoccupation with variable concepts of dwelling, building, and latent or wretched know-how in a place is superimposed with her questioning of provenance studies at the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, focusing on objects that were expropriated under the Bodenreform (land reform) decree of late 1945 and subsequently entered different museum collections. Sculptural object constellations and architectural fragments occupy the exhibition space and refer critically to forms of (non)recognition of violence, the history of primitive accumulation of capital, the peasants’ war, and the formation of continuous colonial fantasies.
