This performance in the framework of MaerzMusik Festival is the summit of Nandita Kumar’s sound installation which is still running until March 26, 2023, at daadgalerie. Kumar’s work deconstructs political rhetoric related to various environmental issues by collating statements made by influential individuals, politicians, and organizations. Employing the very methods of data manipulation and fake news, the statements were transformed by an algorithmic “haiku” generator producing a poem to accompany each of the untrue statements. During the performative activation, a number of these haikus will be set to music by three voice artists, electronics and foley with refused and recycled objects.
