With Minerva Cuevas

Minerva Cuevas’s (1975, Mexico City) work operates at the interface of political action and practices of social self-determination. The global economization of habitats and natural resources, the social causes and consequences of climate change, and neoliberal mechanisms of power in private and public space play a central role in her work.
A constant line in her work is formed by concerns around the theory of social ecology and the permanent circulation of interests between economies, ecological resources and politics. In works such as »A Draught of the Blue», »Not Impressed by Civilization« and »Égalite« Cuevas demonstrates how ecological and social matters are fundamentally related and reach back to a most natural attachment between humans, antispecism and land. In her work as an artist Cuevas offers alternative ways of community-based actions of resistance and forms of public expression and manifestation.

Minerva Cuevas was a fellow of the DAAD Artist-in Berlin-Program in 2003 and was invited again this year to develop a new project for the daadgalerie.
The exhibition »No Room To Play« will be on show from April 12 – June 09, 2019.

»Attachment to Land« is a series of talks and presentations amongst others with Agnieszka Brzeżańska, Carolina Caycedo, Ewa Ciepielewska, Aleksandra Jach, Xu Tan and Minerva Cuevas.

Conceived by Aleksandra Jach and Melanie Roumiguière

Talk in English, free admission.
