14.10.2021 – 17.10.2021 / 12:00 – 20:00
With Listening at Pungwe, Yara Mekawei

In 2021 the Donaueschinger Musiktage will be 100 years old. For this occasion, the festival has initiated a project to mark this next century of contemporary music. Donaueschingen Global is an extensive research project reflecting on contemporary and experimental musics in non-European contexts. Since 2019, four experts in global art music have been travelling to different rural and urban regions in South America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East to explore and discuss contemporary musics outside of well-known networks and institutions. The results of their research will be presented in concerts, installations, performances, discussions and lectures during the festival Donaueschinger Musiktage 2021.

The long-standing connection between the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and the festival continues this year: In addition to works by various alumni, current music & sound fellows, Listening At Pungwe (Robert Machiri & Memory Biwa) as well as Yara Mekawei, will present their work in the form of a sound installation and performances. The complete program can be found online here.
