The Art of (Not) Forgetting
Presentation, talk and collective “memory reading” practice
with Olga Bubich

What and how do we remember? How much and why do we forget? Do our resourceful and painful memories have anything in common across cultures and nations? Can the elusive nature of our memory be used by the repressive regimes to promote misremembering and impose different versions of the past?

In her project, “The Art of (Not) Forgetting“, Olga Bubich steps back from her common job of a journalist and photographer to become “a memory keeper” – a person engaged in researching the (in)visible tissue of Belarusian women and LGBTQ+ people’s recollections. In a talk launched by ICORN and the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program, Olga is going to share the insights of her research and show how care of one’s personal memories can turn into care of one’s nation and people.

Record Release Concerts for Ahad’s Flux World 1 + 2
with Zsolt Sőrés, featuring Nicola Hein, Sukandar Kartadinata & André Vida

This night celebrates a milestone in the output of Zsolt Sőrés aka Ahad: the release of the CD and vinyl trilogy, Ahad’s Flux World 1 + 2 on Fourth Dimension Records/Hinge Thunder.

Nemo Point Soundmap for Terrestrial Melanoheliophobics features over 150 minutes of new sound material composed and recorded by Sőrés in 2021 and 2022 while he was fellow of the Artists-in-Berlin Program—a psychedelic-experimental journey from Budapest to Berlin and into the depths of Ahad’s sonic cosmos. The two CD, limited-edition double album features a total of seven pieces combining viola, bass, piano strings, voice, mellotron, dictaphone, percussion and all kinds of objects. The accompanying vinyl, Astro-Noetic Chiasm X, presents live recordings, taking listeners through an immersive setting where real time electronics converge with improvised viola, percussion, gadgets and so on to create vast washes of avant-garde turbulence that assumes a stance rarely seen outside very early electroacoustic-flavoured kosmische music or abstract droneworks.

The record release concert will feature new collaborations, the saxophone-viola duo Un-garians (André Vida & Zsolt Sőrés) and the Hein – Kartadinata – Sőrés trio (Nicola Hein: guitar, Buchla, electronics / Sukandar Kartadinata: guitar, electronics / Zsolt Sőrés: viola, electronics).
