With Yevgenia Belorusets, Alan Pauls, Cristina Rivera Garza, Samir Sellami, Tobias Haberkorn

Berlin Review is a new magazine for books and ideas. Their first issue will be published in early 2024. The event kicks off the new talk series “Berlin Review Audio” about literary journalism in various venues throughout Berlin.

We live in a time of catastrophe. Inertia and adaptation are two of the ways we cope: what is at first shocking and corrosive morphs into a trauma that organizes our daily lives. For the first talk in the series, Yevgenia Belorusets and Alan Pauls (Fellow 2019) have written essays on destructive phenomena that shape their native countries and challenge the way they write, think, and feel. Joined by Cristina Rivera Garza (Fellow 2023) whose unique blend of auto-fictional and investigative prose exposes North America’s histories of violence, we’ll read and discuss excerpts of Yevgenia’s und Alan’s writing. Moderated by Samir Sellami and Tobias Haberkorn.
