Sabakar

Sergii Sabakar is an artist and senior lecturer in the drawing department at the National Academy of Art and Architecture in Kyiv. In his practice he uses drawing as a means of creating both graphic series and video animations. He was awarded art residency fellowships in Germany at Bestehornpark Aschersleben (2017); LIA – Leipzig International Art Program, Leipzig (2009); Villa Waldberta, Munich (2009). His works have been shown at exhibitions and festivals including Rencontres Internationales PARIS/BERLIN; Projection, Auditorium du Louvre, Paris and at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin (2019); Creating Ruin, Abbey Gateway, Reading, Great Britain (2018); Artee Zug, Altstadthalle Zug, Switzerland (2011); Bosch Parade, s’Hertogenbosch, Holland (2010). Solo exhibitions include: Travel Notes, The Naked Room Gallery, Kyiv (2019); Outwards, Art Centre Closer, Kyiv, Ukraine (2016); Viewers at Forest. Artist and Manipulation, Weltraum, Munich (2009).

Sergii Sabakar stayed in Berlin in August/September 2022 with a fellowship from the DAAD Encounters with Ukrainian Artists Program.
