With Ipek Görgün, Kali Malone, Nicole L'Huillier, Nina Emge, Thomas Raab

The Transnational Sound Initiative (TSI) launched its first research hub in October. Funded with short-term grants from the DAAD Arts & Media program, five international fellows – Nina Emge,Ipek Görgün, Nicole L’Huillier, Kali Malone and Thomas Raab – are engaged in questioning and redefining their understanding of sound and hearing.

This exchange will be manifested in a public online workshop in November, which will widen the circle of fellows with the addition of a network of associated (sound) researchers, sound artists and composers, including Michael Akstaller (Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg),
Andy Graydon (Artist), Marc Matter (Institute for Music & Media, RSH Düsseldorf) and Toni Lester (Babson College).

Since the beginning of the project, this circle of associates has grown steadily, reflecting how TSI sees itself as a mutable, dialogical collective. Founded by Jan St. Werner (fiepblatter, Mouse on Mars, Berlin), TSI operates in non-hierarchical, decentralized and interdisciplinary structures. Knowledge production is based on diversity, dialogue and the creative appropriation of technology.
