18.11.2023 / 20:00 – 22:00
With Mazen Kerbaj

Ute Wassermann (voice, bird whistles and electronics)
Mazen Kerbaj (trumpet, crackle synth, amplified objects)

Before taking a one-year break from producing music and art in 2024, Mazen Kerbaj (Fellow 2015) presents a series of concerts in solo and with his main Berlin based groups. As part of this series, he will perform at daadgalerie on November 18th together with Ute Wassermann. As the duo Asfourieh they will play Revisitations, a piece originally commissioned by MaerzMusik in 2021 as part of the Halim El Dabh Invocations.

A table between the two performers serves as a huge game board with numerous extensions of the voice and trumpet, such as (everyday) objects, whistles, tubes or electronics. The performance by Mazen Kerbaj and Ute Wassermann unfolds in a temporal structure that is precise and open at the same time. This leads to unpredictable shifts, incredible coincidences and absolute simultaneities – in the tension of minimalism and chaos, control and loss of control, improvisation and composition.
