With Fariba Vafi

In her novels and short stories, writer Fariba Vafi repeatedly creates female figures who would otherwise have little place in the post-revolutionary literature of her home country. She has received numerous awards in Iran and internationally for her works, which have been translated into multiple languages. In 2017 she was awarded the LiBeraturpreis award for her novel Tarlan (Sujet Verlag), in September 2020 she came to Berlin for one year as a fellow of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program. Now a collection of her short stories is finally available in German, An den Regen, ingeniously translated from the Persian by Jutta Himmelreich. After the end of her one-year residency in Berlin, Fariba Vafi will give a reading at the daadgalerie. She will talk about her understanding of literature with literary scholar Maryam Aras and read from her new collection of short stories. The discussion will be translated by Jutta Himmelreich.
