Ukraine, Ukraine Encounters, 2023, in Berlin

Olha
Marusyn

Olha Marusyn (*1986 in Lanchyn, Ukraine) is an interdisciplinary artist, choreographer, and curator. Her artistic medium of expression is language, reflected in scores, choreographies, temporary structures of all kinds and poetry. For her, a work of art is a document of change in progress, to support a process and make it visible. After being involved in collaborative projects for four years, she has recently been focusing on her individual practice, with a focus on violence (in relatively safe places). She is the co-founder and curator of soma.majsternia – a dance and performance research studio based in Lviv, Ukraine. After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukaine, Marusyn organized together with the volunteer initiative kukhnia, a shelter, kitchen as well as cultural activities for displaced people in Lviv. She is a member of the performative research group Abstract Finger (doesn’t point anywhere).

Olha Marusyn will be in Berlin in October/November 2023 as short term fellow of the special program “Encounters with Ukrainian Artists” and will participate in the event Peilung #6.
