In addition to compositions for soloists, ensembles and orchestra, some of which are scored for additional unorthodox instruments, devices and electroacoustic setups, Simon Steen-Andersen’s extremely heterogeneous oeuvre also encompasses audiovisual installations. His music often extends into the theatrical dimension through the performers’ actions. Ensemble Mosaik performs works by Simon Steen-Andersen in Berlin as part of the concert series “unerhörte musik” (BKA, June 2009), and “open_sources 09” (Kulturbrauerei, Kesselhaus, December 2009).

During his stay as guest of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin program, Simon Steen-Andersen will work on a commission for the Donaueschinger Musiktage 2010; a new music theater project with CapriConnection, an independent theater group from Basel; and Buenos Aires, a chamber opera for the Norwegian Ultima Festival, autumn 2010; as well as on various performance and installation projects.
