With Nada Al-Khawwam

In her poetry, Nada Al Khawwam reflects on the loss of her homeland Irak and the experience of exile. Since December 2018, she is living in Berlin as ICORN resident, hosted by the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program. On the occasion of the International Cities of Refuge Network board meeting, Nada Al Khawwam will read poems and speak with journalist Nazeeha Saeed, herself a former ICORN writer-in-residence in Paris. Bahraini International correspondent Nazeeha Saeed was the first reporter to challenge the human rights abuses of the Bahraini government after its harsh crack-down on protesters in 2011. Facing continuous harassment, Saeed left Bahrain shortly after they lifted her travel ban. She currently lives in Berlin.

The ICORN fellowship is supported by the State of Berlin.
