The Kenyan writer, screenwriter and director Wanjiru Kinyanjui (Fellow 2025)studied at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin from 1987 to 1995. In addition to her graduation film The Battle of the Sacred Tree (1995), she has selected Safi Faye‘s Man Ya Yay for this evening. Faye, a Senegalese filmmaker and DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program alumnus, made it for German television in 1980.
