LOSS FOR WORDS. MARIA STEPANOVA AND EUGENE OSTASHEVSKY IN BARCELONA

  • Talk

16.04.2026 / 18:30 – 20:00
With Eugene Ostashevsky, Maria Stepanova

For Russian author Maria Stepanova, a 2024 fellow of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program, flight and displacement are not merely a political reality, but an imaginative condition of contemporaneity. As a fellow at the Centro de Cultura Contemporánia de Barcelona, Stepanova is now curating the series of events Loss for Words, exploring speechlessness in times of war and violence. Author and translator Eugene Ostashevsky, a 2013 guest of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and professor at New York University, will speak on April 16 about “The Poetry of Unsettlement.” The series kicks off on April 8, 2026, with Berlin-based author Sasha Marianna Salzmann.

Supported by the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program with funding from the Federal Foreign Office
