HANADI ZARKA: A SMALL BED IN A STRANGE CITY

Hanadi Zarka, born 1974 in Latakia, Syria, is a poet. She has published six collections of poetry in Arabic, won three awards in Syria, and her books have been translated into French, German, Dutch, English, and Danish. Thanks to a fellowship from the state of Berlin, she has been living and working in the city since December 2022. After first presenting her work at the Haus für Poesie, Hanadi Zarka will now read at the daadgalerie on May 8 and speak with literary mediator and translator Mustafa Al-Slaiman and Islamic and Arabic studies scholar Barbara Winckler, who translated her works into German.
