In times of polarization, every encounter harbors both a risk and a promise. The risks are well known: disapproval, failed communication, exclusion. The promises, however, must be discovered together. From consensus to friction, from estrangement to connection, the spectrum of possibilities is unimaginably vast. Residency programs are a particularly well-suited space for addressing the challenges of these times: they facilitate listening and explaining, questioning and negotiation.
This year’s annual publication focuses on what matters most: the international writers, visual artists, filmmakers, sound artists, and composers who are coming to Berlin throughout 2025 on an award fellowship and will live and work here for six to twelve months. For information on the many projects we are developing in the city and beyond, please visit our website.
The 2025 yearbook of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program is now available online.
We hope you enjoy reading it!
