Writer and poet Murathan Mungan is a literary and political exception to the rule. He is a cult figure in Turkey and the first author to publicly identify as queer. His novels and plays have been translated into numerous languages. Appearing in German to date are »Chador«, »Palast des Osten« (both 2008), and » Städte aus Frauen « (2010). At the daadgalerie, Mungan will recite from his novel »995 km,« which he is working on in Berlin. It deals with the story of a contract killer who is supposed to assassinate a well-known Kurdish intellectual in the city of Diyarbakir in the 1990s.
